Rajashree Choudhury, born in Kolkata, India in 1965, started her yoga training at the age of four. She was a five-time winner of the All-India Yoga Championship from 1979 to 1983. After studying at Mahila Yoga Byam Kendra, Gosh’s College of Physical Education and Yoga Training Institute, she received her Certification in Hatha Yoga Therapy for chronic diseases and disorders.

With over 15 teaching years experience in the East and 25 years in the West, Rajashree’s special focus has been on the emotional side of yoga and how yoga balances the energy of the human body and impacts not only disease, but also affects the body/mind/soul connection which constitutes vibrant health.

She helped her husband Bikram create the world-renowned Nine-week Bikram Yoga Teacher Training program, and conducts seminars on yoga and personal development worldwide. She also developed and teaches her own highly-acclaimed pregnancy yoga class.

Rajashree has appeared on national and international television, and her seminars promoting the countless therapeutic benefits of yoga have touched audiences worldwide.

Karma is Action (Formerly KarmaforKids), a yoga-based fundraiser devoted to suffering children with life-threatening illnesses and their environments, and the annual International Yoga Asana Championships, are a few of the charitable projects that Rajashree spends her time.

She has founded the USA Yoga Federation a non-profit organization formed to facilitate her goal of yoga ultimately being accepted as an Olympic sport. Most recently, she created Labanya Foundation: a worldwide women’s welfare charity dedicated to helping women in crisis of all ages and nationalities..
