Meet our team of qualified, dedicated teachers
Teachers and staff at Bikram Yoga Green Valley play an integral role in the studio, taking at least three classes per week to stay immersed in their practice.
All teachers at BYGV are graduates of the nine-week, 600-hour intensive Bikram Yoga Teacher Training course, are CPR certified and benefit from on-going continuing education programs available at the studio and through the Bikram’s Yoga College Headquarters in Los Angeles.
Originally from Northern California, I arrived in Las Vegas as a professional dancer/model. In 2000, I discovered yoga as a great pre-show "warm up." I became fascinated with the practice, leaving class feeling blissful and empowered each day.
My belief in the healing powers of yoga strengthened when, thanks to yoga, I was able to heal myself non-surgically from a severe spinal injury I endured after several years as working athlete. In an effort to spread the gift of yoga to as many people as possible, I opened Bikram Yoga Green Valley in Henderson, Nevada in 2008.
Today, my yoga studio heals approximately 200 spines a day! I am thankful for the opportunity to introduce yoga to many new students each week.
A decade ago I was out of shape, moody and stressed out, working as a nightclub DJ, living a little too hard and too fast. A fellow DJ suggested yoga, so I went to the local studio where I saw this little yogini gracefully practicing, as I was sweating buckets and breathing like a donkey. And I knew: I had to practice yoga.
Since then I’ve been practicing daily, studying different styles: Ashtanga, Vinyasa, and Bikram. My body is slimmer, stronger, and suppler; my mind is calmer, clearer and more confident. I healed injuries, made it through law school and stayed grounded during challenging times.
In my classes I love being able to inspire people to question their limitations and - if for only a split second - go beyond them.
In February 2012, because I was suffering from horrible lower back pain from working in construction, my wife talked me into trying Bikram yoga. I was instantly hooked and, after just one month of daily practice, my back pain disappeared completely. Also, for the first time, I experienced a real and sense of inner quietness and peace - something I struggled to find for so many years. I love Bikram yoga, the challenge I get from every class, and the great sense of accomplishment afterward.
"Matt is a unique yogi, and will help answer your questions about practicing yoga at BYGV. His friendly face will reassure you that you are in the right place for healing and living a better life."
I began my practice in 2008 after suffering from a joint disorder since childhood and being involved in four major car accidents. In the beginning, it was very frustrating for me. My body was in tremendous pain, but I kept coming and trying the right way a little bit at a time. After 25 years of unsuccessful medical treatments, Bikram’s Beginning Yoga healed my body in only a few months. It will do the same for you! In addition to my personal experience practicing Bikram yoga and my theatre performance training, my best asset on the podium is my pre-medical/biochemistry education.
Knowledge is power; the more information you have, the more empowered you are to make the best choices for your health!
I am here to help you on your road to recovery and living pain-free.
I started practicing Bikram Yoga in 2003 and fell immediately in love with the challenging series. I found it to be physically, mentally and spiritually rewarding.
After many years of maintaining a regular practice, I attended Bikram Yoga Teacher Training Spring 2010. I’m grateful to have the opportunity to teach yoga that I am truly passionate about.
I agree with Bikram, "You’re never too old, never too bad, never too late and never too sick to start from scratch once again!" See you in the hot room, Namaste.
I became a teacher because I really believe in Bikram yoga. It has benefited my life is so many ways; physical, mental and spiritual. The more I practice the more confident I become; self-realization & god realization.
As a teacher it’s my responsibility to be the best I can be on the podium, I keep in mind that there will be people who come in to class who are wounded, sometimes broken.
The students should have the best experience to allow for their own self-healing.
Staying present and not teaching from my ego is my goal. Because I am a new teacher, the more I teach the more I learn. I feel love and compassion for all yoga students, and support them equally in their struggles & triumphs in their practice.
Pamela Lydon Heard
In addition to being a Bikram Yoga teacher, I‘m a professional dancer/choreographer with an M.F.A. in Dance from the University of Michigan. I’ve been a college professor of Dance for more than thirty years, and Artistic Director of Pamela Lydon and Dancers. Most recently, I was on the teaching faculty of the San Antonio School for the Performing Arts, a professional school associated with the Joffrey Ballet.
Since discovering that Bikram Yoga allowed me the freedom of movement of a much younger dancer, I have dedicated my life to passing on this wonderful knowledge to as many people as possible.
I especially hope to touch the dance community, whose performing lives are too often shortened by injury. "Trust the process; it works!"
From my first Bikram Yoga class I fully understood the profound effect it would have on my life. My friend brought me in on a day I wasn‘t feeling well, but after that class I was more happy and clear minded than I’ve ever been. I was euphoric, my attitude had taken a 180 degree U-turn from the anxiety I suffered from at that point in my life. This capability of the yoga to build self confidence is therapeutic and transformative.
My goal as a teacher is to share this empowerment with my students guiding them through their classes in a way that maximizes these miraculous mental benefits. It is a pleasure to see my students leaving the studio each day with happy smiling faces.
I was born and raised in the Ukraine, and immigrated to the US in 1997, falling in love with this country and its people.
After suffering from back and hip pain due to stress and injuries, I took my first class in November 2008 at Bikram Yoga Green Valley. That class transformed my life; I received more healing than with countless physical therapy and chiropractic sessions.
I attended the Fall 2011 teacher training to share this unique practice and its healing benefits with others who are suffering from aches, pains, and injuries.
I am dedicated to being a Bikram Yoga teacher. This is part of my life, for the rest of my life. I am honored to be able to share this knowledge with others.
Born in Detroit, where my father trained me in Tae Kwon Do, I grew up with focus, discipline and corresponding injuries from an early age, but as an adult I discovered the joy of healing with massage therapy. Working with a chiropractor, I witnessed the pain and challenges that result from back pain and spinal injury.
I realized the importance of a healthy spine for total body wellness, and started prescribing yoga backbends from my own personal practice. With the love, support and encouragement of my father, I attended teacher training in Spring 2012.
I’ve harnessed both the power of massage and Bikram yoga to help strengthen spines, increase mobility and fitness; relieving pain and improving the most important quality of our lives: feeling happy.
Toni Jo Wilgar
I started practicing Bikram yoga in 2002. My life was in a dark place; I found recovery and Bikram yoga at the same time, just what I needed. The yoga helped me quiet my mind. My body was so stiff... I was in a lot of pain. At first I hated the yoga. It hurt but I loved the feeling afterward. I kept coming day after day determined to get better physically, mentally and spiritually.
After four years of practice, I decided to go to teacher training in fall 2006. I have been teaching ever since and love it! Today I am happy, joyous, and free.
Watching people transform makes my heart happy. Yoga helps us learn to love ourselves.
Thank you, Bikram. I love you.
The instructors are amazing. Stacey never lets anyone slack, encouraging you to go beyond. Stephan’s attention to detail is remarkable; he can be on the other side of the room and know if your right thigh muscle is not contracting, and “oh, point your toes as well”. He teaches with a calmness about him, and his explanations improve everyone’s practice – he just has a way of pushing you to the next level.
I would like to say that every instructor I had at Green Valley was amazing. Even though I’m not a perfectly fit and flexible human, they always made me feel welcome there.
I never felt out of place. What a beautiful group of people you have working for you!
